Japanese filmmaker Masanori Hata made this above-average family film about a dog and a cat--friends with a tendency to make mischief--who go on an unanticipated adventure when one is rushed downriver and the other follows. Hata, who took four years to complete the work, relies on purely cinematic storytelling techniques (these animals don't have human voices on the soundtrack), making the film an international favorite. Dudley Moore narrates, but the film works because Hata's filmmaking fundamentals are so good. Kids love this, but adults can easily appreciate and enjoy it, too.--Tom Keogh
A big winner with the kids Excellent story about two lifelong friends that is a sure hit with young children. Dudley Moore's voiceover does a great job personifying Milo (the cat) and Otis (the dog) in this quaint story about the close friendship of these two animals.
I love this movie!!! The Adventures of Milo and Otis is my favorite movie. I watch it over and over. The animals are so cute and cuddly, except for the bear and seagulls. There are a lot of exciting adventures. I have a DVD version and like to watch it in my car. I wish there was a sequel movie. The Adventures of Milo and Otis This has got to be the BEST children/parent video around. My husband and I actually rented this as adults several years ago prior to having our son and loved it. I searched around and could only find it here at Amazon and was thrilled. It came quickly and in good shape! The story is all animals with the narration by Dudley Moore. It is quite an adventure for these two stars - an orange tabby and a pug. My 2 1/2 year old son adores it and the best thing is that after watching it every day for the past two weeks I want to see it again too! You can't say that for most of the videos we get stuck watching. You will be hands down pleased by purchasing this video. Enjoy!Seattle,WA
